The Importance of Prioritizing Characters
A lot of it would be based on research that we had done and what we had learned about the fans and the property. We found that if you look at the most important characters in the Pirates franchise, number one is Jack Sparrow by far no surprise. Number two is the ships. The ships became the fans told us that the ships were a character under themselves. And they were the second most important character in the franchise. It was a cost cutting decision to focus on other elements that are less expensive to shoot and produce in the Franchise.
