Is Death More of a Sociological Exploration?

The author really just like honestly sashays his way through the text. Sometimes he's like, oh, what's happening here? It's like an entire chapter of literary analysis. The third book more about how society would react to bigger and more fantastical kind of and more futuristic concepts. There's a lot more that happens in the third book but I'm trying to figure out why this first two books are so good.
