The Dialectical Relationship Between Thinking and Material Circumstances

I think this is where some of the Marxist theorists of the early 20th century are wrestling with, how does thinking shape and interact with the material circumstances in which we live? I think they have some helpful insights here. It's clear that we're not simply a function of the material circumstances  in which we exist, nor are we a function of mere ideas. There is always this interaction, to use the Marxist terminology, there was this dialectical relationship between the two,. The shapes who we are and how we behave.
