Is There a Coherence in the Text?
When you read a platonic dialogue and you start to finally see why it's unfolding the way it does, it does come together as remarkably coherent. So good examples, like the hippiest major, it's about the beautiful. Well, it doesn't really start talking about the beautiful one. And so that seems like a weird incongruous text. Now you can just skip to the definitions of beauty and just stick with that. But if you really want to understand the work, you have to understand why a a discussion of law finally turns into a discussion of beauty. That's to take the idea that the text on some level is coherent.
