The Overweening Monster of Whiteness
The incident is educating those young white people to have the same sort of beliefs about race that their parents did in grabbing them out of the water. We don't know what conversations happened after that or what questions the white children ask. And we're told by Karen that white was necessary natural and normal. So, and there you have it. The people who make an overweening monster out of whiteness are not looking at the textual details of a situation like that. They would have to focus on this as something that is historical and it's particular to situations. It's contingent and thus defeatable.
