The Causality of Elite Status

In this new world that we live in, so much of status is driven by how much attention is given to you. There's these status games between people where there's a lot of signaling and it seems like the elites of our society are playing that game more than everybody else. Why do you think these elites feel so insecure that they have to continue to play that game? That's a great question. What about being elite makes you insecure? And the second question is what about being insecure makes you an elite? I think the causality flows both ways.
