The Importance of Race in White Liberals
White liberals, the sole group who changed how they interacted based on the race of the other person, to them, race is very salient. Conservatives do not view race as nearly a salient factor and don't notice patterns of race as much. They're viewing all things in life through individual lens whereas liberals are looking at everything through collective identities. The conservatives make these huge judgments of merit based on individuals rather than groups.
