Is Back Testing a Dangerous Thing?
I know you have some pretty strong feelings about back testing, in both the right and wrong way of doing it. As well as appropriate and inappropriate use within the research process. Some an just maybe set up a little bit of a a soap box here and give you the platform and and let you share your thoughts. I do have lots of thoughts on it, having seen it done istead of well and badly over my career. The concept of a back testi is a tool, like any tool. It's not a perfect thing. It should be used carefully to avoid datim ining.
