The Battle of Taranovo
Beyazid was besieging Constantinople along with the core of his army. His immediate target was the Ottoman-held Danube Riverport and fortress at Nicopolis. The two armies came into contact on September 24th, 1396. There was some raiding back and forth between a detachment of French Crusaders and the Ottoman-like cavalry. But the core of the battle came the next day, September 25th.
