The Dangers of a Tracheostomy
Tracheitis, granulation tissue from the tracheostomy tube rubbing. The windpipe itself could become injured. Tracheoanominate fistula is a big vessel that's bringing blood from the aorta and crosses right over the front of the trachea. And in very rare cases, if there's too much pressure, especially in someone who's had radiation which has deleterious effects on the tissue,. That's usually life-threatening.
