The Shape of Water: The Best Director of the Year
Guillermo Del Toro for the Shape of Water. Historically, they were reluctant at the Academy to break up Picture and Director but then we had this preferential ballot come into the picture about eight years ago. We've had splits the last several years. I think it's been so exciting but totally unpredictable,. But I think we're all prepared to not be shocked. Who knows?
