The Mythology, the Textual or Historical, and the Physical Evidence
There are three kinds of evidence that should be examined: mythological, textual or historical. And then finally physical evidence. We have examples of how accurate information can be transmitted generation to generation in an oral society. The fact that world mythology is replete with stories of these creatures and the preternatural qualities of these creatures should at least be cause for looking into the matter further.
