The Basic Mystery of the Eels

The eel is born in the sargacous sea as a small larva. When they reach land, they develop into what we call the glass eel. And when they find their way up in the rivers and streams, they go through the another metamorphosis to become yellow eel. They live for a very long time as yellow eels in fresh water, up to 85 years. Around 15 to 30 years old, they suddenly leave the fresh water, swim out in the ocean again and return to the sagaso sea. At the same time, they transform again and become what we callthe silver eel. This is a very strange creature. It stops eating completely
