Global Warming in the Arctic
The arctic is warming three times faster than the rest of the world. The temperature difference between the arctic and mid latitude locations is what drives the jet stream. As the arctic warms faster, the jet tream is losing its fuel and slowing down. That's leading to stalled weather patterns all over the world. Heat waves are predicted to become increasingly common in the northern hemisphere this century.
