The Importance of Egalitarianism in Britain
In some ways there was more social mobility up and down the social scale when Britain was supposedly a static, high-bound feudal society. And actually, there's been a strain in Britain at least, where the more meritocratic the rhetoric gets from the people in power, the less actual meritocracy there is. I think that, um, it always struck me that if we didn't have wokeness or kind of this rabid egalitarianism, we'd kind of have to invent it with this economic system that we have. You know, they, they, well, it's strange.
