I came across a tweet about the refer a couple of years ago, referring to the greatest manhunt of the 17th century. And my initial thought was it would be quite interesting to write about the man who goes after them all. So that was really what led me to it. I have always been interested in the English Civil War, always been put off writing a novel about it by sheer complexity. But here, a chase structure, a man in pursuit,. That was an interesting character to me. And it was a way of unlocking the story. Absolutely.
