In the eighties and nineties, a lot of people in my generation went into finance to do to trade derivatives. And if you look at option's prising theory, it looks a lot like physics. It's kind of like the mathematics of random walks,. So there was a very typ not tight connection, but the concepts were were strongly related, that were necessary. But nowadays, i think there's more loading on machine learning in c s background now. They're using that subset of their skills, but the funds would just as soon hire a c s or m l type gy to do it. so it's a little bit of a complicated answer.
