Patrice La Mamba's Speech
La Mamba's speech became one of the most positive and iconic moments in the whole African struggle for independence. He didn't just throw shade in the speech he also outlined an optimistic and even utopian vision of what Congolese society could be after independence. A bunch of Congolese soldiers mutinied and murdered their Belgian officers that night, which led to a general assault on all white people in the area. The Belgians hadn't had time to hand everything over so the Congo was set up to be one of those democracies with both a president and a prime minister in a parliament.
