John and mary are both co authors on the sonic paper. The main reason that halo was built around a sonic style pol p is because that's what we had to hand. Innovation we were focused on was not the proving system per se, but figuring out a way to describe it so that other people would believe us that it worked. Er, there was a very, er, busy week when missus jeston went, i think i have an idea. And then i spent all of that week in my hotel room as we were writing code to try and prove that we could actually get this to work.
In this week’s episode, Anna explores Halo 2 with Daira Hopwood and Str4d, cryptographic engineers at Electric Coin Company. They explored what new ideas Halo introduced and how Halo 2 built on these ideas, adding optimisations such as adding Plonk-ish arithmetization to take what was a breakthrough to a production ready proving system.
