The Transformation of the Christian Community

The Bible is primarily a book of stories. And so you would think this process of discovery through story would be very understood in the church and it would be deeply ingrained in how we teach, but that's not true. Primarily we teach through a lecture and we give people what amounts to oftentimes bullet points of things that they ought to do, ought to believe. These are truths about God. There's not a lot of discovery happening. The normal Christian could not read the stories of Scripture. Any hebraic influence that existed in the church was systematically purged and replaced by a set of essentially bullet points that we had to believe to be able to survive inside of these different political structures
