There is a very pervasive victimization feeling in this country, that we're all victims of our childhoods. It's interesting how leisure time has allowed us to become very much focused on personality. When there's no money around, that doesn't seem to be that important when you're starving to death. And it may well be that that particular frame of conceptual mind is one of the places that we are just about to transcend into much more a sense of community or network,. or biotic identity, or collective consciousness.
