The Concept of Resentment
Ressontimo is a term used to refer to any effort by a plebeian proletarian underclass from the possible achievement of its own justice or of its own emancipation. The word resentment signifies and qualifies something greater than mere resentment, right? And that's very significant to me, precisely because if we call it resentment, a more ordinary affect, right? Immediately you see that it's non-ontologizing to the other. You immediately have a kind of possibility of change. Yes, the proletariat is not what it was in Marx's time but I think it's reasonable to argue that capitalism overall is going to locate the problem of resentment amongst what Nietzsche would call the losers.
