When I first came, the union was really run by senior white male faculty. It was a service union to be fair to them. But this strategy really fell apart in the aftermath of 2008 financial crisis. So we had really, really harsh austerity. And there was a series of dissidents in the union that didn't support it but their numbers were too small.
