Worsly wakes to the sound of muffled shouting and the thud of feet in his rips. Y bolts upright and peers over the edge of the boat in the dim morning light, he sees towering waves in the distance, maybe a hundred yards away. They're headed straight for the boat, for god's sake. Get her around, hoist the sail. A hafewa. Then is the first wave hit them. All the men are knocked sideways, and some ther senks. Another wave comes behind it crash ind straigt into the hule, filling the boat with water. He watches the men drop to their knees, bailing out water. It takes everything
