Ruth Wilson Gilmore definition of racism as the state sanctioned or extra legal production and exploitation of group differentiated vulnerability to premature death. I thought that's a really important idea or concept because we often think of vulnerability as this innate characteristic, but actually it's something that's produced by capital, by the state. Life expectancy is much shorter for black community and also racialized community and people in the global south.
