The Protestant Reformation was an attempt to re-centralize the Eucharist and say we need it frequently not just once a year. Lawrence at the very beginning of his book calls the Hussites quote supporters of Master Janhous and promoters of the Lai Chalice. There's three points of emphasis. The laity should receive communion in both kinds, he says. And this is a medieval innovation that needs to be reformed. Unfortunately the Council of Constance rejected this reform effort as sacrilegious.
