The Battle of Renville

The bridge head was my major responsibility. If the germans developed a second attack of similar strength and vigour, i doubted their ability to stand up to it. I had by now also put in the independent parachute company and had nothing in hand. It is impossible to say with what relief we watched this reinforcement arrive. We could see the tug aircraft cast off their gliders and down in great spirals. The landing took place on both sides of the river and canal.
