There has been studies that when we are exposed to trauma, it can interfere with healthy development of the brain. So if we have prolonged trauma early on in life, there can be those long term consequences where we've seen those outcomes from ACEs studies. Traumatized youth may lose capacity to manage themselves, their behaviors, their emotions, understand what's happening. They may be always in that heightened state or their body might just become into more of a free state to cope with all those additional stressors. What we're trying to say is by us understanding trauma informed approaches, we can be that person to regulate, co-regulate with children, be the buffer that they need to cope
