Stephan hayne did most of the state's autopsies. One year, he claimed to have performed 18 hundred of them. Haine made about one million dollars that year. The innocence project wrote letters to district attorneys in mississippi asking them to go back and review all the cases that hayne had worked on. Not a single district attorney decided to do so.
