There's this eternal struggle, I think, between trying to figure out what it is exactly that you're mourning and how much of it has to relate to colonial legacy. But also separating that and knowing that that doesn't mean you're accepted. It was written over 25 years ago but still such a big framework for a lot of Hong Kong people in terms of the cultural scene when talking about how they relate to Hong Kong as a space.
