The Capacity Theory of Working Memory
If you fill out more of your working memory with more stuff, eventually there comes a point where you can't anymore. By the time I tell you the last digits, the first digits or some middle digits will be gone from your working memory and you won't be able to recall them all. So this is what's called the capacity theory of working memory. And basically that working memory is of limited capacity. If you're trying to teach someone something, if they've got more than two things in their mind sometimes, they won't be able to think of another thing. That is a fundamental limitation on any kind of learning.
