The Writing on the Wall
Belshazzar failed to learn the lessons from his maternal grandfather's experience. His sins were more egregious than those of his grandfather. He had lifted himself up against the lord himself, defiled the vessels of his temple and employed them in acts of idolatry. Belshazzar and babylon with him, have lost their power,. In their place is rising the kingdom of medo persia. This introductory statement is an important part of helping us to understand what comes later.
