Spinoza is best known for his atheism, or at least in opposition to traditional religion. His view on death was quite simple: "When you're dead, you're dead" Spinoza rejected the second option of an after life because he felt that it would consume your life here. He said people who are leading lives inthralled to superstitious beliefs will throw themselves at the mercy of priests and rabbis.
