The Role of Watch-and-Wait in the Survival of Complete Responders

Up to 25% of patients will experience regrowth and the vast majority will be salvageable because they are detected early. Local, unsalvageable disease after watch-and-weight is rare, around 1% at the most. Follow-up measures could eventually ease up after that period. Most intensive surveillance is recommended for the first three years as the author's state. Following a full year of complete clinical response, incidence of local regrowth between patients treated with different doses of radiation was similar in subsequent two years.
