Mike Schmitz is a white water rafting guide in the Grand Canyon. He used to work as a metropolitan transportation planner for an association of local governments. His parents had done a rafting trip through the Grand Canyon before he was born. "I've always admired folks who sort of at the drop of the hat will do wild stuff," says Schmitz.
