The Sound of Shears and Clipping

The sound of a large pair of shears could be distinctly heard in livingstone's house. The operation of clipping continued for upwards of three months, never being silent 24 hours at a time. It was the regular sound of clipping that led to the name wizard clip. From what i've been able to tell so far, it appears that this may have just been speculation from common folk that a supernatural entity whom they imagined as a wizard, was responsible for the clipping noise. In fact, i have found references to the spirit being called the wizard clip, or the wizard of middleway. Whatever the origin, wizard clip is the name that stuck. And soon that's what the town was called
