Do You Need to Understand the Underlying Technology?
As a data scientist, do you need to understand this big ata architecture well, or do you just need to understand how you consume the output of this architecture? Ill say, this depends on your background. For me it's quite straightforward to understand the underlying technology. But i can also imagine for data scientists who come from different backgrounds, for example, physics or chemistry, there might be a gap to understand the behind-the-scenes tech. In some companies, such as spotify,Data engineers are tasked with cleaning and setting up these data pipe lines so that the data can really think more about statistics and machine learning models.
