Carolina mayol is a geo archaeologist at the university of la laguna in tenerif and one of richard's former students. She says the evidence for his theory is thin on the ground. So how might they have survived without fire in these cold temperatures? Perhaps with animal skins and taking shelter, being very good at migrating and avoiding being in the very cold places in the coldest times. But they ventured out into these in ospitable environments because they provided something else, plentiful supplies of energy, rich meat, maybe that could have fuelled a bigger brain, right?
