Bad agriculture powers a lot of the cities and urban centers, without it, you can't support quite as many people. I want to talk about slash and burn agriculture while we're on the topic here. There's this farming method where land is cleared by cutting and burning vegetation. It sounds counterintuitive, but actually the ashes from the burned vegetation are often used as fertilizer for the soil.
