Splicing: The Future of Lightning

Core lightning and LDK have it on the roadmap to implement towards the end of this year. LND is working to get it in 2024 at some point on their roadmap. So hopefully by the middle or end of 2024, all the major lightning implementations should have splicing functionality available for users. You could imagine 100 people opening a channel at the same time and combining that with pay join. It could have some really interesting implications but we haven't actually seen that happen yet. And you would save money, which is that's the key incentive.
