The Bat Colony at the Bronx Zoo
There are colonies of bats that are available for some research. They go to me and then they become cell lines. Some of the cell lines that we are generating in my lab are actually from WSU's bat colony at their Vancouver campus in Washington. And these are what? Little brown bats, mostly, or some kind of bat that's frowned? Yeah, that's a corollia perspicolata. But it's predominantly, I think the colonies are predominantly driven by what animals will breed in captivity and are easiest to handle. Rosettias are some of the more standard, I guess laboratory bats.
