Sustainability Is Something You Can't Measure Too Finely
Sustain ability is something that the system you can't, you can't measure too finely. But if you a relax the system so that your measuring processes that act potentially matter, sustain ability has to be a feature of the system long term. Any process that you set in motion has to be something you could undo if it turns out to be harmful in a way that you didn't see coming.
