Movie Review - Arrival on Pandora
The voiceover is specifically designed to cut out the need for interstitial scenes and unfortunately also eliminates a lot of character work that otherwise would be done through action. I was really bummed not to be able to spend more time with Jake Sully on earth and kind of get to know who he is and how he felt about his brother like his brother vanishes from the movies so early on. There's a reason that this is an epic as well as being like this classic myth story and not epics are just because of length but they're that way because of scope.
