How to Help Your Child Learn to Read and Write

Start by giving your child letters that she can handle and play with. Help her to learn the names of those letters and the sounds that they make. Once she knows most of the letters and their sounds, you can see if she's ready for word building. The beauty of a Charlotte Mason approach is that reading and writing are not necessary for learning during the first few grades so there's no need to rush your child.
