Jeff Pearlman: I'm a fan of the all Henry Shaw story, The Gift of the Magi. A husband and wife who don't have a lot of wealth are looking to give one another a holiday gift around the Christmas time. He says it was truly a selfless decision to give away their price possession so that their partner can actually have something valuable. "If you just talk to another human being and ask them what it is that might make them happy in terms of a gift context, you're just almost always better off," he says.
