Anadolu and Anatolia in Turkey

Anadolu and Anatolia is something that is born in a lot of ways administratively out of the development of the Ottoman Empire. It's not an inherent ethno-national term, nor is it necessarily a natural geographic term. Geography becomes important by the 19th 20th century for Ottoman leaders because of the peril the state finds itself in due to foreign invasion.
