Is There a Difference Between Guilt and Sham?
Shame plays with both our fear of exposure, but also our desire for exposure. So it's very much also about visibility and spectacle and these kinds of things. And i think that's why, in contemporary culture, shame has sort of re surfaced. It's so much about projecting your identity through forms of social media and so on. We have a kind of confessional culture as well. So i think it's completely bound up with those things too.
