The morale of the people sustained when hardship, neighbors helping neighbors. People are even in wars saying, this is going to get better. We're going to make a good world. If somebody had walked through Europe in 1945, this sheer horror and loss of hope would have been overwhelming. Walked there 10 years later and the place was absolutely booming.
