How My Mother Survived the Nazis in Holland
In May 1940 the Nazis invaded Holland and for the first period life does continue relatively unchanged. But gradually they're able to do less and less. The family can't shop in the market. They're not allowed to have a car. My grandfather's not in the country so they're cut off there out of any money. Anything that could be stolen effectively was. And that persists for the so latter two years until in June 1943 the families were arrested. It was a big raid on that day 20th June 1943 very hot Sunday. Families are taken to collection points and then taken to Westerbaw, Patrancic camp. From there they usually went to Auschwitz or Sobibor.
