Exhibition reflects on how much of China's 20th century and actually 21st century concerns are clearly visible in what's going on. You have the whole question of identity, with things like social Darwinism attracting some enormous interest in China as they struggled with the question of identity. There was a wonderful translator called Yanfu, who translated cascades of Western writing. And you had all these pressures which were going to create what followed; it's just a fascinating period.
